When a major Asian OEM built their first pickup truck, they arrived with limited internal engineering resources for the accessory category. There was no in-house precedent, no established supplier base and no existing programme to build from.
EGR was asked to step in as the primary accessory development partner, taking on engineering responsibility across multiple product categories simultaneously, all under a single coordinated APQP framework.
One of the key technical challenges was the bull bar programme. This OEM had never fitted a bull bar to any vehicle. EGR guided them through the entire process of replacing a 4kg plastic front bumper with a 60kg steel assembly while maintaining airbag compatibility, sled test performance and Australian Design Rule compliance.
